The high importance given to receiving good ratings fuels political correctness. Political correctness is not correct, but is depriving healthy and right social interaction. Political correctness is unauthentic behavior leading us further astray from being original and human. The great trickster gives you a huge smile but is cursing you behind your back. As long as we get a good rating, all is well right?

Feedback please!

As previously remarked in the post entitled Feedback please!, why do we have the need for asking for reviews? What is the actual reason for ratings? And where does it lead to, to a better…

Organizational transformations aren’t a bad idea, perse, I would say. I consider changes in the dynamics of an organization, e.g. by Agile or Lean transformations, I positive thing — I applause all endeavors to become more agile.

The problem isn’t going to be solved by implementation programs, though. Implementing Agile, by adopting the Scrum framework for example, isn’t going to solve the problem. Although characteristics of Agile will arise when the root problem is addressed when moving towards the desired situation. What is the problem to be solved, actually?

The problem to be solved

As is the case with all continuous improvement endeavors, the current…

Catching dreams — Photo by Ella Jardim on Unsplash

Dreaming big is the antidote for conformity and uniformity. Dreaming big is important for organizations as well as for individuals. Big dreams inspire to take action.

The dreaming leader

The primary and maybe even sole purpose of the organizational leader is to inspire and to envision. Dreaming big is paramount for inspiring leaders. The bigger the dream and the more that dream is embodied by believing in the dream, the more inspiring the leader will be.

Maybe that is one of the reasons why Elon Musk is successful and receiving much attention: he dreams big and he beliefs in those big dreams to…

Just for a moment, forget all what you know about agile and lean. Forget about all the agile methodologies, frameworks and other agile concepts out there. Useful as they might be, they can impede getting into the spirit of true agility.

What matters most

First and foremost, it’s critical to be clear about your vision and mission in life, as organization and as individual. When it’s not clear yet, take some time pondering and contemplating about those essential questions. Really make sure they are close to your heart and are aligned with the underlying intent of the spirit of the organization. Formulate your…

Responsive Organizations are quick to respond or react appropriately or sympathetically to changes in the environment. When does the positive trait of adapting to changes in the environment turn into conformity?

Follow the leader

When outer circumstances dictate the behavior of an organism, be it an organization of an individual, the organism loses its sovereignty and becomes under control of outside forces. This strategy might not be doing any harm to the profitability of an organization. But it does harm moral, at least when ethics are of any concern.

To what extent is adapting to changes in the environment virtuous and in alignment…

Responding or reacting — Photo by William Stitt on Unsplash

Being responsive, opposed to being reactive, is commonly considered a positive trait to embody. Responsive Organizations would otherwise have been called Reactive Organizations. And yet, there’s not that much difference between responding and reacting. A small difference with major implications… Let’s dive in!

To respond or to react

To respond or to react, what is the difference?

To react is to exert a reciprocal or counteracting force or influence. Reactive can be defined as the readily respons to a stimulus. To be responsive is to be quick to respond or react appropriately or sympathetically. …

What is artificial intelligence? What is the link between artificial intelligence and our conception of intelligence? How natural is our conception of intelligence?

Before continuing what is artificial? Something which is artificial is made by human skill, produced by humans and is opposed to natural (source). Natural things are existing in or formed by nature, opposed to artificial. Natural things are characterized by spontaneity, self-acting resulting from a natural impuls or tendency, which is unconstrained and unplanned.

Artificial intelligence

We have specialized artificial intelligence in robots, self-driving cars, drones, etc. This type of artificial intelligence is restricted to one area of expertise…

Where are you going? This is a question I frequently ask when I’m travelling. The answer to this question is the primary determinant for boarding the vehicle. When the vehicle in question doesn’t go to the destination I have in mind, I don’t board the vehicle. When the driver of the vehicle responds with shrugging one’s shoulders, when I ask where the driver is heading to, I also don’t board the vehicle.

The above seems like common sense. And yet, it seems rather uncommon that employees know where the organization they are apart of is heading to. Nor do many…

How do you rate my toilet? How did you like our service? Please rate your stay! Did you like our chat? It’s all about giving feedback and the upward trend hasn’t settled down yet. Why are we so in need of feedback? And what are the hidden patterns at play? Read on to find out.

Feedback can be defined as “the transmission of evaluative or corrective information about an action, event, or process to the original or controlling source” (source).

Feedback loops are seemingly there for giving a qualitative boost to the originator, to help the originator be more creative…

There is a battle going on for humans’ conscious potential by means of the prevailing narrative. Now more than ever this is becoming apparent because of the pervasive information- and communication technology.

We are continuously being bombarded with information. Humanity is on a global scale receptive to the bombardment of information because of our inter-connectedness via the technological web, using our personal information receivers (smartphones, laptops, etc.).

Another major ingredient for the battle of the prevailing narrative is the English language, which is increasingly the dominant language across the world.

The narrative and the message

A narrative can be defined as “a way of presenting…
