I fundamentally worry about an Elysium (from the movie) type of scenario and which Hawking has already alluded to. All this automation could also bring on a golden age of access to all of life’s necessities for everyone regardless of social class, but only if it’s somehow truly shared. This article tries to posit some short term fixes, but I would argue it’s a larger human question of whether we choose to share what that automation could bring us all.
