With social media and the internet, the level of connectivity on this earth is forever increasing. I believe the use of crowd sourcing makes a journalists job much easier. Instead of being an investigator of information it makes us more of someone who just relays information. Easy is good but it takes away from the value that journalists hold. I am not completely up to speed on what exactly doxing is, from my online research it tells me it is a method of publishing or exploiting unverified personal information about someone. In the newsroom nothing should be published that is not thoroughly investigated and verified. Especially in regards to individuals, it is important to always verify personal information. Ethically there is no room for it in the newsroom. Handling a breaking story such as the the terrorist attacks in boston a few years ago or any sort of crime story that takes time to develop is a tricky situation. As a journalist you race to beat the rest of the field and present breaking news as quick as possible, but this can also lead to unverified information being given to the public. From a social media standpoint I would try my best to keep the audience engaged with shorter more frequent posting. An even harder task would be to have been assigned that breaking story because they take so long to develop and are extremely unpredictable, you never know when another event will unfold and your last statement will become irrelevant. It is hard to say exactly how I would handle it if I were covering it because I have yet to cover any stories let alone a breaking story such as the Marathon Bombings.
