The ford GT40 was originally built for the 1960 24 hour Le Mans race. It was extremely successful winning the race for 5 years on the trot. In addition to its already large portfolio it was the first American built, designed and manufactured car to win the race. The GT40 was already an icon

The 2004 GT40

This 2004 model is an elegant tribute to the 1960 model and it represents its style in an improved modern way. But the car wasn’t the same. Instead of it being another GT40 it was a pretty picture with a few modifications of the 1960 model. This 2004 model is a tribute, the GT40 is an aggressive, durable car not an elegant car or a pretty picture. Ford should have recreated the GT40 instead of painted a nice picture reminiscing on past fun.

2016 GT40

This vehicle is new it is different it is a new car bearing the title of the former king of Le Mans. The 2016 model unlike the 2004 is not a tribute is has taken the idea of a GT40 and put it into a brand new present day body. This is what the modern GT40 should be it carries the essence of the 1960 model but is better in every way better. Bigger engine, better looks, even more exiting performance. This car although it is not a tribute is a perfect reminder of the triumphant 196o vehicle.
