1st Week — Codecademy Pro Intensive: Build Front-End Web Apps

Monday I was super excited to start this course and over the week I have learned a lot from it. The material at this stage is all about JavaScript fundamental’s and is taught in a very well structured manner.

August 21st, 2017 was the start of the Codecademy Pro Intensive: Build Front-End Web Apps & I was very pleased after looking over the coursework. All the required information is there but more then that they provide sufficient quiz’s & coding project’s to retain the material you are learning about.
This course is scheduled to be completed part-time with an estimated 10–15 hour’s a week for 8 week’s. So since I am able to learn full-time I’ve decided to utilize some other good resources to aid in the learning process.
To the left is “Pro HTML5 with CSS, Javascript, and Multimedia” by Mark J. Collins which I purchased via Apress.
Note: Apress is running this promotion “Back to School Sale: 40% off every eBook (eBook’s are DRM free) in every subject!” until August 30th, 2017.

The first week thru this course it covered built-in methods, data types, JavaScript variables, mathematical operators, string interpolation, browser compatibility, transpilation for ES6, functions, parameters, the return keyword, different JavaScript function syntax (ES5/ES6 — as shown on the left), create arrays &manipulate them with array methods.
I would say for someone new to Codecademy there is plenty to do to learn & maintain the knowledge you gain thru this course. They have three JavaScript tracks (Learn JavaScript, JavaScript & Introduction to JavaScript is the Pro Intensive course with ES6 syntax) which allows for three times the practice of most topics covered.
A lot of the concepts are similar or re-purposed in each of the three tracks but I still enjoyed going thru each of them to get more practice with the covered material.
Aside from Codecademy I have been reading & doing some FreeCodeCamp for even more practice.
Another resource I intend on utilizing is a site that allows you to practice problem solving in many different programming language. It is called CodeWars. Previously I had already obtained 6th Kyu in JavaScript & Ruby there. Here is a good explanation of CodeWars Kyu ranking system. /*Click This Link*/

For times when I have to step away from my laptop & still want to learn I either read or use the Memrise Android App. Memrise is a memorization application for learning different subjects.
I am happy to say that I am satisfied by what I’m seeing from the Codecademy Pro Intensive: Build Front-End Web Apps course so far & look forward to the rest of it. Be sure to follow me to learn more about this new program & for a final review once I’ve completed it.
Take care and Jesus bless each of you.
