I liked your article, but I think in reaching the goal of describing the plight of poor people in rural areas and the mid-west that do down played the plight of the urban poor.

I am very familiar with one of the cities that you showed photos of, Bridgeport, CT. Long ago Bridgeport was Manufacturing Powerhouse, now all you see are abandoned factories and empty lots and has a median household income of about $34.5k. 
 
 Although the people of Bridgeport are struggling they have not become radicalized, racist and xenophobic like towns in the Mid-west and South.
