“Despite all of this, I have enough for today, and they still know nothing about me.”

The terrifying thing is I don’t think people in power even care; worse: they can choose not to care now even more, as technology start to replace human being itself.

in the past, dictators or conquerors could not, nor afford to kill too many people; aside from the lack of personal data the have, doing so will left very few to carry out agricultural tasks; weapons are also not that effective and rely on mass human deployment;

But now with weapons that can annihilate an entire city with a button, and clever robot who are also on the race line for middle class job, human is more disposable than ever for a few.

The three things you have listed: commercial; the war on terror; and politics, are just comforting imagination in a democratic country that somehow limits the politicians’ power; the scope and quantity of which a totalitarian country such as China can deploy on is far more terrifying, such as in Xinjiang.

You have children, wife and a family, but you are a minority? Congrats, you must now frequently attend or even live in concentration camps and get brainwashed.

In the eyes of dictator, you are worse than a nobody: you are a threat.
