A Novel Idea

I wrote a book!

An honest-to-goodness, page-turner of a book! Pretty exciting! It’s called Does This Knife Make Me Look Fat? and it’s kind of a murder mystery, with a healthy dose of pop culture and quotable quotes. A little murder, a little art-talk, here and there a cocktail, some very good shoes — how much fun is that?!

It’s the story of Able and Kate, two life-long friends who are smart, witty and of an indeterminate age. They’re a Nick-and-Nora-Charles for our time…Nick and Nora Charles?…The Thin Man?…William Powell and Myrna Loy?…No?…Worth checking out! Okay, how about Murder She Wrote mixed with Castle and a twist of The Devil Wears Prada? You get the idea. The story goes something like this…

Able Ryder is a charming artist/former New Yorker who lives in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. His significantly insignificant other, Kate Lindsey, is a totally New York marketing woman who loves shoes, books and Able — in equal amounts. Together they find themselves involved in the middle of an A-list murder mystery, fully turned out with art, design, fashion, style and the occasional martini. They learn, grow, contribute, laugh and find that, at the end of the day, it’s very good to be who they are.

I started it on a dare a few years ago and finished it sometime later, shopped it around to a few agents and got, so I’m told, a pretty positive response and some great advice. So, I tucked it in the back of my brain for a while, focused on other things, got into my blog world, published the first one hundred of them — Thank you to everyone who bought a copy! — realized my writing style had changed quite a bit, and figured it was time I brought it back to life — a veritable Franken-novel!

The funniest thing was, I missed the characters. They become strangely real over time. And now, the book is real too! And it can be yours at Amazon! Click on the link below and it’ll take you right there. It’s a perfect end-of-the-summer read, or early stocking-stuffer or anytime airplane-entertainment. Be the first on your block…or floor…or cul-de-sac!

And enjoy! I hope you have as much fun reading it as I had writing it. Thanks in advance!

Oh, and did I mention that it’s illustrated? I know, right?!

It has the clarity of Windex and the neatness of Betty Furness.
