Product Hunt Launch Live Report
After spending many months, initially as a bit of a lurker and then getting more actively involved in the community with it being one of my first online stops each day, have finally moved into the Maker category.
The startup I helped to co-found MapFig, Inc. is an open source mapping tool for websites. It is designed to make it simple for users to deploy and manage maps on their websites.
We went live on Product Hunt around 5:30 EDT and has been non-stop between Twitter, Facebook, and Product Hunt since then.
As of 9:45 EDT, we just hit the 30 upvote mark!
The number one product out there today was in the lead right from the start and has about 80 votes from the nearest competition.
So far strategy has been contacting more tech savvy friends asking them to take a look, sending out tweets, and posting in a few Facebook groups.
I did hop on Periscope for a few minutes to chat about the launch and plan to do more live streaming during the day combining both product focussed and general feedback on the launch process.
I will be updating here throughout the day and will do a recap once the day if over.

Mid-Day Update
We just hit the 50 vote mark at around 12:53 EDT, which was a nice milestone.
We moved pretty rapidly up to the initial 30 and then it slowed down for a bit. Around 11:00 EDT it started to pick up again and has been getting a steady flow of consistent upvotes.
A few products have really gotten out ahead and just saw a few launch that I am sure will do well.
Have been trying to get on Twitter to thank everyone who has upvoted. I am sorry if I miss anyone.
I have done a Periscope and Meerkat update about the launch and product in general.

Mid-Afternoon Update (2:45 EDT)
Just a quick little afternoon update before I need to step away from the screen for one of the only times today:)
He has been slow and steady, we just hit 60 upvotes about 10 minutes ago. Would I like to see us at the top, of course, but I am certainly honored and happy to have been featured and am very pleased with how the voting has gone so far.
There are a lot of great products out there today as everyday. I know I average about 5–6 upvotes a day myself so there are certainly great things coming out all the time.
Strange to think that there are still many more hours left for the day, so this will keep going for a bit.

Final Update 8:00 PM EDT
While the Product Hunt day has not yet come to an end, I sense my day of updating it is closing in on that point.
We currently stand at 77 votes for MapFig. I am very pleased with this result. We are not in the Top 10 which would’ve been my big target but considering the nature of the product we did well.
Hopefully, more votes will come in over the next few hours and I like that the votes never really stop. I look forward to my usual early morning stop on Product Hunt seeing where we ended up.
