Tell Your Story with Maps

When a new project comes out these days, the two big questions are “Does the world need another-insert business type here-?” and “what problem does it solve?”
These are important questions, especially the second one. As far as the first one we just need to remember that Facebook was not the first social network and Google wasn’t the first search engine. There is always room in the market for someone to come in and change the way things are done.
MapFig is arriving on the scene to normalize the mapping industry. Traditional GIS tools are either are a challenge to use and/or are quite expensive for the average website owner. Many tools also don’t provide you with the control of your own maps, requiring their vendor or other limitations, we don’t. Yes, there are other free tools out there but the companies behind those are not focussed on mapping. MapFig provides solutions for businesses of all sizes from the web developer needing to manage multiple accounts for clients from one location to the digital nomad who wants to share their travels with the world.
Our mission is to put Open Source tools, such as leaflet.js and Open Street Maps into a platform that anyone can use to share their story. We have all been there, telling the story of visiting a place and someone asking what it is near or what part of the country is it in. We solve that problem. The power that can be added to your travel story when you can show people the exact place where you visited. Whether you want to show a simple location or map out the journey you traveled.
Unfortunately, we also live in a world where there are concerns on privacy especially when it comes to location. Our services allow users to create private, password connected maps to share with only those that need to know.
Fortunately, we also live in a connected and open world. We support this by offering a wide range of plugins for WordPress and other popular platforms as well as the social sharing which is expected these days. We also support the open source community by making our studio available on GitHub.
As the global community comes closer together, MapFig is enabling all users to share their stories with maps.
