I’ve never understood Stories, frankly. Why would I want to share a whole day with others, but then have it deleted a mere 24 hours later? I understand Snapchat’s disappearing messages (although I think they are recklessly dangerous in concept; after all, there’s this little thing called “screenshot”), but as I understand it the 24-hour window is counting down whether my contacts are online and had time to view that stuff, or not. If I could set a custom timer, okay … but still, a group chat that disappears some time after the event seems more useful to me than a passive feed.

Instagram Stories are particularly confusing for me, because they always seem to start with some video and then I have to swipe somewhere. Maybe I’m getting old. I’m 31, so I’m officially too old for the Snapchat era anyway.
