Hi folks,

Apologies for the hiatus! We have a few updates and a new set of design principles for social impact and sustainability.

Quick rewind…

In 2017, Will and I were lucky enough to travel twice (!) to the US to share more about the Will-Wai Experiment and our path towards developing the Iceberg Canvas. A big thank you to SXSW and Google for having us. It truly was an incredible experience.

We also ran an Iceberg workshop with the Google Sprint conference attendees and Google product designers. There were some Oscar-worthy moments as one group role played hipsters ordering cronuts from a mom-and-pop shop, while another had a human Google Home interacting with a demanding child.

Say cheese! 😁

What about now?

Will is back in London, busy pitching and working with the SR_ Design Strategy team on testing the Iceberg Canvas for a new innovation proposition, while I switched to a new job earlier this year to work at HSBC PayMe — HSBC’s P2P payments product in Hong Kong.

Last month, I also shared the Iceberg framework with the design team at HSBC, and we are hoping to formally use it in how we design products — starting with mobile first.

We’ll aim to do a proper post on what we did and what we learned very soon!

In the meantime…

👉 We have written a manifesto and some conscious design principles. Do check it out and let us know your thoughts!

Big thank you to everyone who has been involved in this experiment thus far. Special shout-out to Kai Haley, Simon James and Craig Walmsley for their guidance and wisdom 🙌.

As always, we are constantly looking for and open to feedback. Leave a message or get in touch — Will & Kar, Karwai Ng & Will Anderson
