2. Messiah
In Tennessee, a judge told two parents that they couldn’t name their kid Messiah. The parents had gone to court in August 2013 requesting to change the child’s last name, but instead the judge said they should also amend the first name. Her request to deny Messiah his birth name was later overturned because of religious bias
3. ISIS
When an Arizona couple named their baby Isis, they were thinking of the Egyptian goddess and mother of Horus, whose maternal and magical spirit were highly revered by the ancient people. But everyone knows that Isis’ mythology has been trumped by the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS), the group known for a whole host of terrible world events in recent years.
4. Winner and Loser
One became a cop and eventually was promoted to detective
The other fell into the life of a small-time crook, racking up at least 31 arrests before being sent away for a two-year stretch in state prison
But for the brothers Lane, it wasn’t a case of their unique names sealing their fates.
“I went a totally separate route right from the start,” said Loser Lane, 41, a detective working in the 40th Precinct in the South Bronx of New York City.
Loser, a star student and athlete, went on scholarship to an elite prep school — Pomfret in Connecticut — and to Lafayette College in Pennsylvania. Then he joined the police force because “my mom really wanted me to do this.”
Winner Lane’s life has gone the other way. Now 44, Winner got out of jail in June after spending two years in Southport prison outside Elmira, N.Y., for breaking into a car. He sometimes lives in Camp LaGuardia, a homeless shelter in upstate New York, shuttling back and forth between the camp and the city, trying to get his life on track.

7. Adolf Hitler
An infamous white supremacist couple from New Jersey named their son Adolf Hitler Campbell — and his poor sister JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell. Guess what? The kids’ names still haven’t been changed.
8. Facebook
Recently, Mexico banned the name Facebook! We get it: It’s one thing to have your tot’s picture all over the network. It’s another to have them share the same name. Though an Egyptian dad Jamal Ibrahim also dubbed his girl Facebook and got away with it.

10. Tula Does the Hula From Hawaii
Okay, this one was deemed illegal. Tula Does the Hula From Hawaii was born in 1999 in New Zealand. At age 9, her parents split and the family went to court. When the judge found out she hated it, he made her a ward of the state so she could rename herself. (In the U.S., this one would likely be banned simply because of laws limiting the number of characters.)
