Wood Glue is Stronger than Wood

I used to think wood glue was something nerdy kids used to build wooden models. It turns out, that wood glue works even better for nerdy adults — like me.

“Hey Lenny, remember that time when you took too many shrooms and you started arm wrestling a chair?”

Little known fact — wood glue, if applied properly — can be as strong as the original board itself. How? I have no fucking idea. But know that if you bond two pieces of wood together with wood glue — it ain’t going anywhere.

Think I’m lying? Don’t ask me, ask my Uncle Steve. (Disclaimer, he’s not my uncle)

The good news with wood glue is that if you take the time to apply some to your project, it’ll hold super strong (especially if you use some screws or nails to hold it in place). The bad news is if you change your mind after it dries — that wood is pretty much toast.

Recommendation — I always use Tite Bond II wood glue, which seems to be what everyone else I’ve researched uses too. Given that I don’t plan on spending a lot of time in a glue comparison research rabbit hole, I’m going to go ahead and assume it’s the best option.
