Your father is a great actor, and has been one for a long time. I imagine he’s aware of the power he wields just showing up someplace. If he showed up at the opening of a mini-mall, there would be a ruckus. “Dreyfuss endorses mini-malls.” This may not be fair, but it’s a reality he must already know. Showing up a Ted Cruz rally is appearing to endorse his politics if you’re that famous. You paint a special exception for yourself for bigotry, but don’t recognize that for a lot of us Cruz’s politics are as abhorrent as open racism. We think he is truly evil, and anything less than saying, “I’m here to find out how crazy this man is,” is to court it.
