Russia manipulated our election and at the moment appear poised to install their puppet into the presidency of our nation. Are our elected officials in Washington DC with us, or against us?

This is treason. What the Trump Campaign did with Russia’s help using Wikileaks, what Mitch McConnell tried to suppress, what James Comey did eleven days before the election, is treason.

This transcends political parties. This is bigger than Trump and Clinton and any single politician at any level of government. What is happening, right now, is a state-sponsored coup.

Right now, at this moment, the integrity of the United States as a nation is under threat.

Look at all the connections that the Trump campaign has to Russia:

Putin wants Russia to be a global superpower again, and wants to reconstitute the former Soviet Union. That isn’t whacko conspiracy stuff, that’s widely-known fact, published and researched and well documented.

Right now, at this moment, the integrity of the United States as a nation is under threat. Right now, the only people who can stop this are the electors, and this is exactly why the electoral college exists, according to Alexander Hamilton, who some of you may know as one of the founders of this nation.

Michael Tomasky at The Daily Beast:

I know I often say “imagine if Hillary had done this,” but in this case, it’s not a mere hypothetical. Imagine the situation were reversed, and this lurid right-wing dystopic fantasy were playing out before our eyes — remembering, I should note, that Trump earlier in the campaign encouraged Russia to do more hacking of Clinton! What would the Republicans be doing? A few things, I think:
•They’d certainly be calling the election illegitimate and would declare Clinton an illegitimate president.
•They’d call on the electors to seat Trump, citing — and properly, by the way — the Founders’ view that electors existed for precisely this purpose.
•Noting that Clinton had (in this hypothetical) earlier egged Russia on, they would be accusing Clinton of being an agent of a foreign government; that is, of treason.
•They’d be so legally brilliant and diabolical that it’s far beyond my capacity even to imagine.

Trump encouraged Russia to influence the election. Roger Stone, a Trump advisor, bragged — bragged! — about Russia helping Wikileaks influence the election. And here we are.

If this is allowed to go unchallenged, if this is swept up by some bogus Republican “investigation” that does nothing, because Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell and the chairs of the House committees that would be tasked with doing something about this put partisan politics ahead of the fucking sovereignty of the nation they are sworn to serve, they should all be tried for treason. If they do nothing, we can reasonably presume that Russia, which also hacked the RNC, may be blackmailing Republicans, which further compromises the integrity of our nation and our national security.

Do you like living in a country that’s a global leader? Do you like knowing that America and use its power and influence to ensure that we are safe within our borders and when we travel? Do you like knowing that — for the moment, at least — you can vote for policies and politicians who can affect things on a global scale, like human rights and climate change? All of that is threatened right now.

This can’t be said loudly and often enough: Russia manipulated our election and at the moment appear poised to install their puppet into the presidency of our nation. Are our elected officials in Washington DC with us, or against us?
