The Times article notes that “as a conservative, [Medford] felt the need to choose the Republican.” If he looks at Trump and sees a conservative, there’s no reason to believe he’ll ever vote Democrat. Medford might not love Trump, but, come election time, partisanship will kick in as it always does.

Just an observation for Democrats: you can keep chasing after this guy’s single vote, at the cost of dozens of progressive votes, or you can accept that he’s never going to vote for you, and give people who *want* to vote for you a reason to do it.
