How to Retrieve a WiFi Password

Find WiFi Password using Settings

  1. Open Settings: Click on the Start menu, then select Settings (gear icon).
  2. Navigate to Network & Internet: Inside Settings, choose Network & internet.
  3. Select Wi-Fi: Click on the Wi-Fi tab from the left-hand menu.
  4. Manage known networks: Scroll down and click on “Manage known networks.”
  5. Choose the network: Find the WiFi network whose password you want to retrieve and click on it.
  6. View password: Click on the View button next to the View Wi-Fi security key option to reveal your Wi-Fi password in a pop-up window.

Find WiFi Password using Network Settings

  1. Open control panel -> Click on Network and Internet
  2. Select Network and Sharing Center, Click on the Change adapter settings option to open the Network Connections window.
  3. Right-click on Active network adapter select status, Wireless properties button on the Wi-Fi Status pop-up window.

Find WiFi Password using Command Prompt (cmd)

  1. Open Command Prompt: Press Win + X and choose Command Prompt (Admin) from the Power User menu.
  2. Run netsh command: Type command netsh wlan show profiles and press Enter.
  3. Select network: Identify the WiFi network profile for which you want to view the password and type the following command (replace “NETWORK_NAME” with the actual network name):

netsh wlan show profile name=”NETWORK_NAME” key=clear

Look for the “Key Content” field in the output to find the WiFi password.

  1. Access Router Settings: Open a web browser and enter your router’s IP address in the address bar. Log in with your router’s username and password.
  2. Navigate to Wireless settings: Find the Wireless or WiFi settings section in your router’s admin interface.
  3. View network details: Look for the list of connected devices or wireless networks. Find the network name (SSID) corresponding to the WiFi network whose password you want to retrieve.
