2022 Roadmap: Massive Expansion to Vintage Charts
In mid 2021 we released an incredible step forward in the wine world. Our data driven vintage charts immediately changed the game by providing wine enthusiasts a new perspective on the wine in their glasses and the bottles in their cellars.
Our initial launch included vintage scores from 2010 to 2020 in 100+ regions across 10 of the top wine producing countries in the world. Today, we’re introducing a massive expansion to that data. Starting today, subscribers can now access vintage scores for all of our regions from 1971 to 2021. We’ve also spent the last few months enhancing our machine learning capabilities so that new vintage scores will automatically be available following harvest in each hemisphere (May 2nd for the southern hemisphere, November 2nd for the northern hemisphere).
Last year our focus was on providing vintage scores for countries where data on official regions was readily available. Grape Base currently has complete vintage information for all regions in:
- Australia — 64 regions
- China — 8 regions
- Germany — 13 regions
Our approach of targeting a country and creating vintage scores for all the regions within its borders will continue this year. In Q1 and Q2 this year we plan on completing our scores for all regions in:
- Portugal
- South Africa
- Spain
- Italy
- France
- United States
The second half of 2022 will focus on adding the top regions from other major wine producing countries. In Q3 and Q4 you can expect to see the top regions from:
- Hungary
- Greece
- New Zealand
- Austria
In addition to the massive expansion of vintage charts which will more than double the number of regions we currently offer, we’ll also continue to add new pairings and features throughout the year. You can expect to see enhancements to pairing detail pages, upgrades to browse and search and UI improvements throughout the app.
