The Fia Formula 1 Racing season is about to begin. Some of the fastest and best race cars ever created will be racing all over the world and we want to make sure that you get a great bottle of wine for a few of the races. Since they make stops in a few major wine producing countries, we decided to pick a couple of the upcoming races and recommend a wine that you should be having during the race.

The very first race of the season is the Rolex Australian Grand Prix, on a 5.303 kilometer track in Melbourne. On March 15th, not only will you be able to watch all of the qualified racers attack this track, but we will make sure you have the perfect bottle to enjoy during the race. Make sure you have a bottle of 2014 St. Mary’s Bells and Whistles Field Blend. This is a blend consisting of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. Full bodied and full of fruit, this is a powerful wine to go along with the powerful cars in Melbourne.

El Gran Premio de Espana

A little later in the season, the Gran Premio de Espana is scheduled. 4.655 kilometers on a winding track in Barcelona. This track was first used for a Grand Prix race in 2012, so what better wine to have during it than the 2012 Genium Celler Vi de Villa Priorat? This is a very concentrated red wine that is mostly Garnacha. It is concentrated with notes of blackberry, dark cherry, and cedar. It has a lot of earth to balance out the fruit notes. While most of the time, we would say that Priorat needs more time to age, this one is 8 years old already and ready to consume right away!

Towards the end of the Season, they will make a stop in the US. The United States Grand Prix will be an important race for most of the competitors coming down the stretch. The race is in Austin, Texas. We all know Texas is a steak state, so there is no better way to celebrate than to enjoy a full bodied Cabernet. 2014 Mario Bazan Cabernet Sauvignon will have all of the body and muscle to hold up to the biggest steaks of Texas. The firm tannins and intense flavors will be the perfect pairing while watching one of the biggest races of the year.

F1 racing is one of the most intense and popular sports in the world. While you are enjoying these drivers whip around the track in their cars, you will have a bottle of wine to drink!
