How to Stop Child Labor: Is there a Resolution?

There are many different NGOs that have been set up not only in India, but also across the world; targeting different socio-economic issues that are faced by these countries. Some of the main issues that are dealt with include ending illiteracy, providing clothing to the underprivileged men, women and children, combating mental illnesses, etc.

Out of the under-privileged section of the society, children remain the most vulnerable. They suffer from the blow of these socio-economic issues’ the most. Not for any other reason but the fact that they are helpless. They do not have the means to comprehend what is happening to them or take adequate measures to stop or prevent them from occurring. Some of the main issues that are faced by under-privileged children across the world include starvation, poverty; lack of education, lack of healthcare and sanitation facilities, gender inequality, emotional and psychological abuse.

Providing a bridge between these problems and the Government, NGOs deal with these issues; either in solitude or in combination. There are plenty of charitable organizations that are located across the world dealing with the problems that are faced by them.

Child labor, one of the main issues faced by the under-privileged is one of main concerns’ that is dealt with by these organizations. These economic activities, which may be undertaken on a full or part-time basis, are known to be extremely taxing for the child. They may be pushed or forced to work in hazardous industries’ such as the diamond or gem industry, in coal mines, as construction workers, firework manufacturing, silk manufacturing, carpet weaving and even as domestic help. It might sound a bit complex when one thinks of how to stop child labor.

There are already enough socio-economic issues that are faced across the world, which are so inter-linked with one another. If there was no poverty, perhaps there would be no illiteracy and maybe unemployment would not be such a grave issue. One problem cannot exist in solitude and it is only when many of these problems are dealt with together that they can be solved.
