Welcome to Winners Win, Losers Lose

“Winners win and losers lose. Who you are, you must choose.” — Larry Weidel
Welcome to Winners Win, Losers Lose, your one stop shop for all content in life that actually matters — music, sports, politics, etc. That’s pretty broad obviously, but for the most part there will be an emphasis on the following:
- Music — This section will have a little bit of everything from time to time: Pop, R&B, Country, Classic Rock, but the most significantly blogged about will be Rap/Hip-Hop. The music section will be a hotbed of music news, popular artists and songs that are in rotation, and songs/artists that are on the brink of blowing up. We’ll keep you up-to-date on the happenings of the music industry and put you on to songs long before they’re #hip.
- Sports — There will be a focus on Pittsburgh sports teams because those are my squads — Steelers, Pens, Panthers, and even our dreaded Buccos will all be touched upon fairly often. Golf, MLB, NHL, NBA, and NCAAB will be covered but the majority of posts will be be about football. Because when we REALLY get down to it does anything else actually matter? I mean sure, the 1st of the 2 yearly “perfect storms” that occurs from late March to late April is magical and all but from September to February we’re going to be dealing with the pigskin more than Amy Schumer’s dermatologist…which provides me with a nice little segue to our next category I guess.
- News & Politics — This category will consist of recent news and events that are important, funny, or interesting and such. The politics section of this blog is going to lean to the right pretty heavily. At least we’re upfront about our stance— many outlets aren’t. For those of you that enjoy this side of politics you’ll enjoy this section, believe me. There will be a heavy focus on President Trump and the federal government, along with general events happening in politics throughout our country and the world. Don’t like it? Simply don’t click on it, not a tough concept. I’ve never understood why someone would WANT to interact with something that angers, upsets, or vexes them…as Tyler The Creator said, just look away man.
Having an open-mind to try to see a different viewpoint is one thing, subjecting yourself to misery though is just plain stupid. That’s what losers do.
As for the name, it’s simply a mantra to live by. I’m not sure where I first heard the phrase. It may have been from a friend, or maybe Eric Thomas, or maybe my brain just formed it from watching so many Donald Trump speeches. Regardless, you can’t not love it, especially when our brains may essentially condition themselves into the habit of winning or losing. That’s why I chose the picture I did for this opening post…Tom Brady is a winner. As much as it pains me to say this as a Steelers fan, I’ve actually grown to love the guy over the years because he is the embodiment of a winner (and thanks to the NFL for conducting a modern day version of the Salem Witch Trials on him but that’s for another day). Having Bradshaw in the picture wasn’t a coincidence either. The guy was hated at the beginning of his career for playing poorly (on awful teams), then went on to win 4 Super Bowls, but finished up his career on a very bitter note — to the sound of yinzers booing even. Even after years of publicly feuding with Chuck Noll, skipping out on funerals, and generally avoiding the franchise any time he could, he was still welcomed back to deafening cheers at Heinz Field in 2002, a moment that is seen as a sort of burying of the hatchet. I have an inkling that scenario wouldn’t have played out the same way without those 4 Lombardi Trophies. Time may heal all wounds, but winning…winning is the ultimate catalyst.
