My first experience of trauma-informed practice — In the height of the covid pandemic, I spent six months working with the Ministry of Justice (UK) on a project to research the needs of women in prison. This work informed the design of a digital service for prisoners to use in their cells; a simple intranet, with content to help them cope and progress in custody. I found that rather than needing to take a radically different approach for this user group, I needed to plan the same considerations that I would for any other, but with different reasons why.
