Andela Bootcamp Week 2 Day 1,
I have to admit that been at Andela today has been a little bit of a shock for me. I may have been too hard on myself before, not recognizing that in spite of my shortcomings, may be there are strengths in me that I do not see. I was ecstatic when I found out that I had progressed, I was granted one more week to grow and learn more about this beautiful institution!
The experience on my first day was new and exciting. Best part of the day was the warm ups. It was nice to have an opportunity to play games, and more importantly with the people we were to interact with during the day. It just made it the best ice breaker for the boot-campers, you end up seeing the Andela fraternity as more of your team mates in a past game and so asking them a question is practically simple.
I ended up seeing in person most of the faces I had spent last week watching on video tutorials and the members I had chatted with on the gitter group. I guess social media has enabled much in this life but it still cannot replace the joy of two human beings shaking hands for the first time and smiling to each other. Unfortunately, for some members on gitter, it was “goodbye” on Friday, knowing that interaction would be minimal from then on. I guess that’s life, some times to enjoy a good mango fruit you have to choose the ripest at the time, so possibly they’ll ripen with time too and join us or find other endeavors that will suit them.
The day still required me to continue with where I had left off from my last week’s project. It’s much better today that I was able to at least make progress from where I had left off, but I have to really work hard this week. The “last day” is pretty near and I have to come up with something of quality to show on that day.
