Paysavvy is now Rise
Today is the most exciting day in the history of our company. Today, we start a new chapter and set off toward a new frontier.
Today, Paysavvy becomes Rise.
Back in the day …
We started Paysavvy in 2011, in a tiny back-office hidden in the industrial depths of suburban Vancouver. Today, our Headquarters spans the entire 12th floor of the historic Guinness Tower, smack dab in the middle of Vancouver’s business district. We’ve come a long way, but we’ve stayed true to one purpose the entire time.
We started Paysavvy with the idea that HR professionals have a really tough time doing the great things they want to do to elevate their businesses, like culture-building and employer branding. Outdated technology and an increased administrative burden keep these people in the back office, when really, they belong in front of their teams.
We wanted to make things better, and if you ask any one of our 500 plus clients, they’ll tell you we have.
Certainly there have been some zigs and zags along the way. But this has always been our guiding star on the hike to the top. HR professionals struggle to find the time and tools to pursue those things they’re really passionate about. We want to empower them.
In the past four plus years, we’ve gained a lot of clarity, as you tend to when immersed in something day in and day out. While making things better for HR professionals is noble, there has always been a larger purpose that we’ve been moving toward — what I’d call our company’s ‘why,’ or reason for existing.
Our epiphany
Making things better for HR professionals is noble, sure … but we’ve always sensed a larger purpose beneath that mission. From the beginning, we focused on HR because we believed — and still do — that this department can make work better for people everywhere: in product, sales, finance, marketing, support … you name it.
The most important thing we’ve realized is that making things better for HR people actually serves our true aim: helping companies achieve their purpose through their people.
The problem is, historically, human resources has been perceived as the administrative department in the basement where you go to get your forms filled out and ensure everyone is following the rules.
‘Human resources,’ as we know it, was born out of a time when people were thought of as resources to be consumed. It was the department to manage the consumption of those resources and out of that came software to help manage that consumption — utilitarian, form-filling, suitable-for-the-basement software.
Welcome to the revolution ….
We believe the first step in breaking the chains of human resources is discarding outdated language and using a modern lexicon to declare new possibilities.
People are not resources to be consumed. The forward-thinking companies of today and the leading companies of tomorrow intimately understand this.
Today, we are declaring the death of human resources and HR software. People and culture will rise in their place.
That’s why we chose the name we did. We’re here to elevate HR departments, uplift people & culture professionals, and power a workplace revolution. In our minds, nothing captures that purpose better than “Rise.”
Rise is the world’s first People & Culture Platform. It’s based on our central Team Hub that connects our best in class apps and integrations. Every tool is built around one central idea: people come first, always.
We can’t wait for you to join us in this future.
To the revolution!
