I Am Not Pushing Your Anger Button

Can Medium please allow the capability to filter out articles that push someone’s anger button?

I realize that might eliminate 90% of stuff but what remains would be joyful.

Probably helpful, might make you laugh, or cry.

But would never get your adrenaline pumping.

I stopped watching the news because most of it was stuff that that would oppose someone’s opinion.

Or it promoted one ideology or another.

I stopped reading the newspaper for the same reason.

Obviously in both of these mediums there were things that I would cheer for. Not everyone would. Things that would irritate me, but not everybody.

The gain was not worth the pain.

What would the articles that were left NOT have?

Anything controversial.

Anything political

Anything ideological

Anything judgmental

Anything suggesting the sky is falling. Or it has never been this bad before.

What would be left?

How to make the best carrot cake. Just kidding. There is more to life than dessert. Carrot cake is a dessert isn’t it? The “carrot” in the name is confusing.

OK. Add no confusing articles.

We might find this however:

How I Achieved ________ in a real world.

Why tomorrow is going to be the best day of your life.

What you can do now to bring joy into your mother’s life. Feel free to substitute for mother. There is always tomorrow. Everybody gets their turn.

Why your point of view is only one perspective. How seeing other perspectives has enriched your life.

Stories of instant forgiveness and the rewards you got.

Stories of authentic feelings and what happened next.

Stories of how sharing improves many people’s lives. And I don’t mean Facebook. Facebook should be a celebration. Nothing else.

Stories about faith and persistence.

Stories that are funny. About the everyday fallibility of everyone.

Stories about hope and fulfillment. Do you know that in several Latin based languages they use the same word for hope and wait? Think about that.

Stories about responsibility and what value you derive from it.

Tony Robbins doesn’t know it all.

Right here we have the Medium to expand the awareness of millions.

So how about that filter?

I know somebody is going to call those feel-good stories. Like who wants to feel good.

Of course that makes everything else feel-bad stories. Obviously popular for some unknown reason.
