Something that caught my attention when I first saw this short was how good and creative they we’re with transiting from shot to shot, scene to scene. It really shines in the first 40 seconds of the piece when Mr. Carefree Butterfly himself was getting really for a night and everything that follows till his rude awakening. It’s very smooth, slick, and free. In a way it’s a reflection of the personality of our main character. This shows up again when he’s reminding his friend of all the fun he had while he sat in a room for four years and studied. It has same effect of showing off our main character’s key traits but this time at the end, his friend brings back down to earth. I thought that was a rather clever moment. The short is ripe with little details that begs you rewatch it a few times to catch them all.
