I want to start sharing a piece of inspiration weekly that I might come across on the Internets with you all moving forward. It may or may not be in the UX field, but overall, just some things that make my brain tick.

I recently came across an awesome 11-min lil’ short called, Détour, shot entirely on an iPhone 7 by Oscar winner/French director Michel Gondry. Apple gave the director behind Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind an iPhone and said — “go make us something beautiful with this phone, Michel”.

And he delivered.

In short, a great story about a lost tricycle trying to find it’s way back to it’s owner using the iPhone video features to its fullest…for sure. Some really cool shots in the short you would never think could be done with an iPhone. It’s all in French, andddd basically, everything sounds better in French. Apple also gives you some behind-the-scenes footage on how to replicate those super cool effects. Got all the videos down below for you to enjoy.

Till next week.

The Time-lapse Shot

That Slo-mo Shot

The iPhone’s Versatility

The “Hope You’ve Got Time” Stop Motion

The Oversized Tricycle
