GO for it….make sure you submit the proper government documentation to make it legal; SSI, Birth Certificate, IRS, etc.
Premise: Everyone’s last name is their Slave name.
While we are at, why don’t we ditch our surnames? Just be known for our first name and that’s it. That way there is no stigma as to what your lineage and/or history is. I mean who wants to dwell on historical information anyways. We should all be progressive and not just limit it to the black community; otherwise, that would be discriminatory for one race to be able to act or speak one way and exclude the other races from the same, or similar, actions.
Since we are ALL dropping our “Slave” names, we will all be free from any stigma that may be associated. As well, any benefit that the name may provide. Lastly, this name drop will free us from being perceptibly anything other than who we are, and not what our name prescribes.
I would say the black community does not hold a monopoly on being slaves. We are all slaves to the government we allow to act in the way it is currently acting. So we should confuse the hell out of our government by only being known as John, Jane, Jill, Shaniqua, Abdul, or Xian.
Lastly, why don’t we stop the discriminatory practice of declaring, for statistics, our race, sex, veteran, or disability status?
What say you?
