Your Answer? How does writing feel…
I am desperate to hear, how would you describe the feeling you get when you write?
I watched a TED Talk the other day by ‘TV Titan’ Shonda Rhimes in which she discusses how it feels when she’s working and in her element…
There is some kind of shift inside me when the work gets good. A hum begins in my brain, and it grows and it grows and that hum sounds like the open road, and I could drive it forever… The hum is action and activity. The hum is a drug. The hum is music. The hum is light and air. The hum is God’s whisper right in my ear.
The ‘hum’ is about more than just writing for her; it’s about making, building, creating, and collaborating on TV, and the Talk discusses other elements of her life…
But wow, what a way to describe it, right?!
It got me interested in how others describe their sensations when writing.
For me, it’s always felt like a river…
Sometimes the waters are still, and I have to gently paddle. Sometimes I’m battling upstream, fighting a current, every inch of progress hard-earned… But sometimes, some magical times, the river is nothing but white water, surging ahead, carrying, overtaking, and soaking me in its enthusiasm to get where it’s going.
But that’s just me.
So, how’s it feel for you?
