A sentence requires a noun/pronoun and a verb. The verb in the sentence changes according to the noun or the pronoun in the sentence. For example, we say, I read a book, you read a book, but he/she reads a book. But in English, the verb changes only for the third person, i.e.- he, she and it. But in German, you will have to learn the conjugations for all the pronouns. Verbs are made up of 2 parts, the Verbstamm and the Endung. Verbs may be regular or irregular. Regular ones follow a particular pattern. The ending of the verb changes according the pronoun. For example, the verb ‘machen’ is mach+en. So, to conjugate it, you’ll have to remove the ‘en’ ending and change it according to the pronouns. Since all the regular verbs follow the same pattern, it is very easy to learn their conjugation. The endings change as follows:

Irregular verbs- In case of the regular verbs, we have seen that only the Ending changes while conjugating, but in case of irregular verbs, the verbstamm changes for ‘du’ and ‘er, es and sie’. The ending will change too like the regular verbs. Here are some examples of irregular verb conjugations:
