In one of his presentations, Mack presented his thesis on the UFO phenomenon and its significance in expanding human consciousness. He delivered this presentation in Prague at a conference of the International Transpersonal Association, where he argued that the abductees had suffered from post-traumatic stress disorders due to the human hunger that is rooted in the need to dominate nature so as not to be slaves to it.

According to Mack, this worldview is the supreme arrogance of our species, a monumental challenge to divinity. He believed that the perceived threat of extraterrestrial beings is not an objective reality but a projection of our fears and insecurities. He posited that the UFO phenomenon is a manifestation of the collective unconscious, a symbol of humanity’s deepest fears and desires.
