Introducing gWOW
The WOW Social Casino is updating its currencies that are being used in the app. We would like to introduce the new in-game, off-chain currency, gWOW, in this article along with a few changes around the currency policies.
What is gWOW
gWOW is an in-game and off-chain currency that has a one-to-one value to WOW Tokens. In other words, one WOW Token equates to one gWOW. The main difference between WOW and gWOW is whether they are created on blockchain or not. gWOW, being created off-chain, remains within the game, and users will be able to convert it to WOW when they have over a certain amount of a gWOW balance. At the time of conversion, gWOW transforms to WOW and users can take any and all activities they would normally do on-chain. In the P2E games such as WOW Clicker in Spin Clash, users will receive their rewards first in gWOW, and will be able to convert it to WOW to their connected wallet once the minimum amount of gWOW is met. The minimum amount for the WOW conversion may change. gWOW cannot be purchased, unlike the on-chain WOW Tokens, and can only be attained through the WOW P2E game rewards.
Payment Method Reboot
Along with the introduction of gWOW, we’re rebooting the payment method in the WOW app. In all payment UIs, users will have options between gWOW and WOW as a payment currency. Keep in mind that WOW and gWOW have one-to-one conversion rate.
Chip Store will no longer support oUSDT, and will offer WOW or gWOW as payment options. Based on the balance a user have, they will be able to choose between WOW or gWOW when purchasing Chip bundles on Chip Store. The pricing of Chip bundles will be variable upon the USD to WOW exchange rates, but will be the same between WOW and gWOW.
P2E games admission fee will be paid through WOW or gWOW per the user’s choice. Again, since the WOW Tokens and gWOW will have the one-to-one conversion value. The price will be the same regardless of the choice of currency.
Diamond Wheel will also support WOW or gWOW as a payment method per the user’s choice.
Why One Would Choose gWOW for Payment
One merit of choosing the gWOW as a payment currency over the regular WOW Token is not needing to pay the transaction fee (a.k.a., gas fee) since gWOW is an off-chain currency. This not only saves the fee itself, but also relieves the chore of maintaining the Klaytn balance to pay for the transaction fee. Furthermore, in the payment process, users can enjoy the convenience of skipping the blockchain transaction signing process each time.

You will see the above mentioned changes took effect in the WOW app effective as of now. You can check all balances of currencies used in the game in your Wallet UI.
