Yeaaah disparity between functions being perceived as either better than or less than is something I too have experienced. IME, refusing to adapt the same mentality once you are promoted is one of the strongest and most contagious stands you can take. Kind of a lead by example thing. You absolutely have it right, everyone no matter the task is needed for at large success and treating functions differently is a weakness and refusal to admit to that.
