Focus on Figures, Not Just Followers: How to Successfully Set Up Your YouTube Channel for Profits & Not Just Popularity with Under 300 Subscribers

Growing a successful YouTube channel for business doesn’t have to be hard. In fact, you can profit from your channel fairly quickly without going through the traditional route to success.

While most focus on growing a following first, they fail to realize that’s setting them up for creating momentum to gain more followers but not necessarily establishing them as an entrepreneur or business owner in the eyes of their ideal audience that they want to buy from. You more than likely get positioned in the inspirational-empowerment-generous-influencer zone.

Indeed, you are here to add tremendous value, focus on your growing fanbase-care and not make what you do primarily about the money. You can still achieve being both profitable and popular with less than you think and in less time.

Common Myth: It takes a long-time to make profits from YouTube and you must have thousands of subscribers before your channel can be monetized.

Myth Debunked Answer: Yes & No: You can start monetizing your channel right away, just in a nonlinear format. You can have under 10, 100, or even 300 subscribers and still consistently have a profitable YouTube channel.

Again, in a non-traditional format. Your rapid growth will depend on how well you powerfully set up and position your brand in the media with high-level execution and consistent follow-through. You can take both the short and long routes to YouTube success and play from both sides of the track. Regardless, you still don’t need a lot of subscribers to profit in a big way.

Several subscribers don’t necessarily equal converted sales, they will more than likely represent consistent confirmation of how your channel is doing by their reactions, views and comments. This is great for cosmetics, not necessarily business.

Believe it or not, most of your ideal customers won’t be subscribers or traditional followers. They (Your investors) will more than likely just come across your video(s) and like what you’re providing, immediately reach out to work with you and/or purchase your product(s) that are listed in your video description.

In my Figures to Followers masterclass, I share examples of how to monetize one video or a series of videos for your high-end advantage. You have to think like a high-end business empire versus just a channel that wants numbers with hopes that the business profits will follow.

Example #1…

Let’s say that you are a high-end consultant with a high-ticket VIP Day/Weekend opportunity. You only have slots for 4 to 6 people at a time, so you don’t need hundreds of followers/subscribers to see that opportunity or even subscribed to your channel in order for prospects to take you up on the offer. If this offer is something that you offer regularly, you can have a calendar set up with multiple date options and if that fills up and a waiting list option can be made available.

To market this opportunity on YouTube, consider the following for this endeavor and other offers…

Instead of focusing on reaching a certain number of followers to monetize your channel in the traditional way or looking to feature your merch/products in the visible section under your video, consider doing a short 5 to 15 or even 20-minute preview of an upcoming event, offering, product(s) or service and share your sign-up links in both the comment and description sections. Be sure to direct people to those sections.

Next, create a YouTube short version to lead others into the longer video to leverage as your short-form marketing and advertising.

One video can create income for you and there’s the option to use the video as evergreen marketing or continue to make videos of this nature when you wish to host this initiative.

Of course, use other forms of video to add value to the general public as you show up more like a YouTube-preneur vs just a YouTuber. Trust me there’s a difference and I share more about this distinction in my master-course, publication and mastermind intensive.

Example #2…

Let’s say that you aren’t a high-end coach or consultant, but you have a business with low-ticket products and services, create videos that feature the products and of course, post the links to your Esty shop, publications, digital products and/or service opportunities below in the comments and the description box. Again, make sure that you are directing people to those sections for the link(s).

When creating these types of videos, it’s best to produce a variety of content connection captures. Meaning, don’t just have videos that are focusing solely on your offer(s) so be sure to consistently be sharing tremendous value and then lead-into your initiative.

When starting a channel for business it’s important to lay the foundation correctly to ensure your short, mid and long-term success. What I’ve shared so far is the basics that may seem like this isn’t something that gave you a big aha. However, let me just say…It’s all in how we look at what seems to be logical and standard information in new ways in order to expand our awareness into a state of infinite possibilities so that we make a few shifts that can catapult our success.

So many new content creators make the mistake of trying to get popular to lead to profitability. Indeed, it can happen that way and for some it has happened that way. But for the most part, many have spent a lot of time and several years trying to build up their YouTube channel’s following thinking that the more subscribers that you have the more people you’re reaching. Sorry, but that’s not how it really works. As result, now most are learning the hard way and finally coming to the realization that having several thousand subscribers is more like the cosmetics for a theme park attraction. However, the subscriber base is typically taking advantage of the free but never/rarely go to the next level to pay for the more advanced experience.

Example #3…

The Eiffel Tower has a free park and a free first level. The second and third levels require payments. Sometimes people who live in that area get comfortable with the view of the Tower at the free level and just continue to visit with that scenic view and free park experience mentality. However, tourists save money and travel to experience the fullness of the Tower.

If you’re going to be in business with YouTube, you have to be okay with attracting more tourists than locals. Your high-end-ready-to-take-action on your offers and opportunities clientele are like the tourists who’s been preparing for your experience and finally aligned with a video or video series on your channel and can’t wait to sign up.

Subscribers or Followers can often seem like your locals who are just consistently enjoying the free scenic views of the content on your channel. So that’s great for popularity and cosmetics; however, not as great for business unless you know how to leverage your numbers to make them count but most don’t know how to do that.

So, would you rather have twenty tourists who will pay for your high-end experience or 100K or more subscribers who love your content and will continue to drink the milk for free but never buy the cow or even a steak off of the cow? (lol)

As mentioned previously, you can have both popularity and profitability, but you must have a certain mindset and master plan in place that creates the win-win.

How to Get Started…

*Focus on Creating a Multilevel/Multipurpose Marketplace vs a Traditional Niche Focused Channel: You want to create an organic business-buy-in experience that allows people to visit your channel without pressure to purchase. They will naturally feel invited to invest because of the value within the variety that’s in your lifestyle marketplace experience.

Having a variety versus just the same focused-based content keeps them organically coming back for newer experiences and not become oversaturated by the same core theme.

So many content creators get stuck with limitation when it comes to niched-focused channels. They start REACHING in desperation to come up with content around the same core focus and don’t allow themselves too just be expressive and create opportunities for others that can service the WHOLE of their experience instead of just a one-note experience that provides variety in a one-dimensional format. You want your channel to provide a multilevel experience. This is where your greater impact and income reside.

*Leverage both Audio & Video Productions: You need a combo of videos to provide variety for different levels of audience interest, attention connection and flexibility for engagement.

So many content-providers on YouTube make the mistake of only providing personal/professional face-touch videos. Several so-called gurus have taught in error about not having audio format videos and saying that it hurts your channel. That couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact, my audio-based videos have been the most profitable and most viewed.

In fact, in more recent studies within YouTube courses, the audio version videos are becoming more popular as they don’t require the engagement to watch the video in times where the viewer would much rather just listen and do other things and/or just relax and take in the content. This is why it’s best to have a variety and leverage both audio and video on your channel and be flexible.

*Set Up Several Playlist Series: To provide a marketplace experience, it’s best to have several playlists for multi-interest especially if you decide to have a niched focused marketplace channel. Playlists can serve as the very bedrock of your marketplace for impact and income. They can serve as the shopping aisles of multiple options within your marketplace. Having three to five at a minimum is great; however, having ten to twenty is even better and more bankable. I encourage small channels to focus on building this area up first and then lucratively leverage those playlists for the higher end advantage.

I can’t emphasize enough the importance of having several playlists that can be leveraged for impact and income.

I love using playlists as pre-qualifiers/prerequisites lead-ins to more expansive experiences. They save your “time currency”, give new prospects or others a taste of your perspectives, trainings and more. They are foundation layers and educational for others. If they want more then they need to PAY to PLAY for the next level.

*Set Up Several Video Description Boxes as If They Were Platforms: For business effectiveness, you want to set up several of your video descriptions boxes to serve as your actual website or platform for opportunities. Whether it’s a product or a publication, you want to make an Easy YES-Buy-In experience within the description.

Also, when you are a multilevel platform, this is how you can provide a variety of options outside of your primary focus without having to build a platform for it. Your video is the platform for direct purchase or email contact.

Remember you’re in business with your channel so you want to have a set up in your marketplace that provides free, low to medium ticket and high-end offers. They don’t have to all be featured in the same video, just make sure that you’re covering what’s most important for the video and the organic lead-in investing at whatever level is presented.

*Leverage YouTube Shorts for Marketing & More: YouTube Shorts are one of the most POWERFUL & PROFITABLE overlooked marketing strategies on the internet. I encourage others to create several YouTube Shorts series and provide shorts from their full-length videos that will give people a taste of the longer version. Having text within in the video that says…Listen to the longer version below in the comment section GOES A LONG, LONG WAY and is very effective.

YouTube Shorts when posted at the right times, puts you in front of a large audience of viewers with a hook that often leads to more views on other videos and subscribers to your channel. This is the time when you can start to focus more on Followers/Subscribers when you have your channel set up for business success. YouTube Shorts can certainly help to grow your audience and also put you in front of high-end clientele.

*Conclusion: When leveraging the content in this article for achieving a powerful set up for your YouTube-preneurship experience, you will see why it’s best to focus on Figures vs Followers first. So, don’t worry about having a huge following during this time. Whether you have 4 or less than 300 subscribers, you can convert a small crowd into consistent investors versus just having numbers that don’t equal to $$$ Numerics.

This foundation will accurately align you with holistic profitability that can lead to more profitable popularity. It’s time to be not only well-known but well-paid as you share value on YouTube. I believe in YOU!
