4 ways to determine whether or not an ICO is legitimate
The weak regulation in the blockchain industry results in the phenomena of crypto Wild West. Some people present really brilliant progressive ideas that can make the life of humanity better. And some people attempt to tum a profit by promoting fake projects.

ICO scam is bad, without saying. It ruins the reputation if this market and the trust of investors. In 2017, when the ICO boomed, up to 80% of the projects were the scam, but now the share of fake projects decreased. In 2018 most investors are aware of the features that reveal fake projects.
Do you know all of them?
- Celebrity is said to be involved.
Actually, many celebrities are really interested in crypto, and they invest in ICO projects. However, they usually confirm their interest in the project in media. If the white paper mentions a person, like Donald Trump, and claim about the involvement in the project — it is fake.
- Wordy whitepapers
Actually, the good whitepapers should be detailed and provide all possible information about the project. However, if the whitepaper is fluffy, wordy, full of unclear buzzwords, descriptions, history, and philosophy — it should be fake. Even if it is not, the owners are not smart enough to develop the professional whitepapers, the risk of project collapse is very high.
- Gorgeous models run the marketing campaign.
If the ICO owners spend their money on the models to run the company, they have nothing else to attract the customers. The project is the scam.
- No ICO team, just the owner.
One person cannot run good, profitable ICO, it is impossible on the hot market. Try to check the project team, find the developers in the social networks, starting with Linkedin. If the owner’s profile is the only thing you can find, the project is 99% fake. One percent is for the option if the ICO team consists of people with no social network activity. By the way, do you really know them?
