California Day 2 – SF downtown and Fishermans wharf

Started the day with an early morning run to the sea. Next on the agenda was breakfast. All American, pancakes, maple syrup – the works. We had this calorie fest at Lori’s Diner just off Union Square. Not quite the West Coast hipster coffee and cronuts, but it was where we had our first breakfast on our trip 17 years ago.

Then we hit the shops, big-time. Highlights include the flagship Apple store (which I quite fancy living in), the 6-storey Nike store and the fancy department stores. Fancy shopping done, it was all aboard the cable car for Fisherman’s Wharf.

One observation was that the weather is difficult to judge. We set out in misty cloud but quickly shed layers as the temperature rose until we were at risk of burning.

Lunch was fish and chips on the quayside. Stroll around to watch sealions and then bus back to the house. Time to shop for evening meal before the cousins arrived.

Great to see the family and enjoyed a beautifully cooked supper.
