The epic love story between renowned actor Sello Maake kaNcube and his stunning wife Pearl Solo Mbewe has come to a bittersweet end.

An exclusive report from Sunday World has unearthed the truth that the once-happy couple, who tied the knot in a lavish ceremony in 2021, has now parted ways and are headed for a divorce.

This will be Maake kaNcube’s second failed marriage in the span of a decade.

His first union to businesswoman Palesa Mboweni ended bitterly in a highly publicised court battle three years ago.

According to sources close to the couple, Maake kaNcube (62) recently kicked Mbewe (42) out of their matrimonial home in Soweto’s Dube township after a heated argument over the actor’s alleged flirtatious behaviour with other women.

Mbewe sought refuge with her parents in Bramfischerville, before moving into her own home in Bedfordview that she purchased over a decade ago.

In a shocking twist, it was revealed that Maake kaNcube was still in touch with his former flame Cynthia Hlahla, also known as Lacoste, who currently resides in the United States.

The source claims that the actor sent Hlahla a message expressing his longing for her and even questioned if she was seeing someone else. However, Hlahla shut down his advances and called him out for pretending to still be in love with her while being married to Mbewe.

The revelation of this communication caused a major rift between Maake kaNcube and Mbewe, ultimately leading to their separation.

Despite his attempts to reconcile, Maake kaNcube was unsuccessful in winning back Mbewe’s heart.

In a last-ditch effort, Maake kaNcube sent a delegation of elders to pay the remaining portion of Mbewe’s dowry, hoping to prove his commitment to their marriage.

However, Mbewe was not swayed and refused to reconcile with Maake kaNcube unless he changed his ways, while he wanted her to conform to certain standards.

With their differences too great to overcome, the actor sought legal counsel from Swanepoel van Zyl Attorneys to file for divorce on January 10.

An email from the law firm, written by employee Anel de Lange, requested a R25,000 deposit before they could proceed with the divorce proceedings.

The email also requested various documents from Maake kaNcube, including their antenuptial contract and his identity document.

When contacted for comment, Maake kaNcube confirmed that he had sought legal assistance for a divorce but had not yet signed any papers or paid the deposit.

As for Mbewe, she declined to comment on the matter. It seems that the once fairy tale marriage of Maake kaNcube and Mbewe has now reached its final chapter, leaving behind a broken heart and shattered dreams.
