Final Idea + Recipe
I made a caramel apple pie cookie. This is a cinnamon cookie with caramel and apple on top.

In terms of creativeness, most of us have never baked in our lives and therefor any baking exercise where we had to create the recipe would be creative, whether or not the cookie had been done before. As for my cookie, I haven’t heard of it before or seen one so I believe it is a creative creation despite being a combination of common desserts.
Idea Generation
I started off with coming up with unusual cookie ingredients. Then I thought about flavor combinations and what things would taste good together. After that I thought about feasibility; how much something would cost how it would cook and mix, how hard it would be to find the correct ingredients, and how much time it would take to make. The biggest deciding factor I had was taste. The cookies I ultimately made were the ones I thought would taste the best.

Idea 1 Test
Cayenne and mango cookies. These turned out really well, but I don’t know if people will like spice. If I make them again I would probably use double mango and maybe a little bit less flower.

Idea 2 Test
This is the Idea I ultimately went with. These ones took multiple tries to get the dough to work right and that’s mainly because I thought it would be quicker to start with premade dough as a base… but it wasn’t. The flavor combination is a solid one and the changes I made only needed to be in the quality of the ingredients. For more about the process read Iteration.

Iteration
Full notes in the picture, but some of the main changes were that I tested a couple different types of caramels, the harder ones had a better consistency and cooked slightly better but they didn’t have as much flavor as the softer caramel. And that I had to increase the amount of cinnamon I mixed into the dough multiple times.

Time Line
- Thursday: Ask my coworker who is good at baking about making cookies; what that involves, what would make a weird cookie, how to, ect.
- Friday: come up with some concepts, either for whole coookies or for weird ingreadients that might work in a cookie.
- Saturday and Sunday: attempt to make cookies even if its a simple recipe.
- Monday: try to make the cookies for this class.
- Wednesday: finish up any remaining work.
