Former 2-time NXT Women’s Champion and one of the most decorated mixed martial artists in history is celebrating her 40th birthday. Here is a tribute to the Queen of Spades on her special day.
The decorated former MMA Fighter and current WWE superstar have always been a force for her innovative offense and top of the line personality. What fans know about Baszler; besides the fact she never looks a day over 30, is the fact she has always stayed consistent and true to who she is in the ring.
Shayna solidified herself in her earliest days, whether you were fortunate enough to follow her from the very beginning or came in late during her MMA career, it’s clear that she was on to something with her armbars and chokeholds.
I first heard about Shayna Baszler 2011 from a roommate at the time who loved MMA. He gave me a few fights to catch up and at that time, Shayna was done for the year and had no more fights until 2012.
The reason it was extremely easy to become a fan of Shayna is for the simple fact she gives her all into everything. It never mattered whether Shayna was to win or lose. All fighters were getting Shayna Baszler at her absolute best constantly.
It was the tail end of Shayna’s career with only a few more fights before she retired from MMA. The journey was over for her in the octagon and it was seemingly the end of seeing Shayna Baszler in general.
A short time later, Shayna appeared in the independent wrestling circuit. She dominated in convincing fashion staying true to her style of catch wrestling in the ring. It was the beginning of a new era for wrestling.
It was an extremely sweet moment because now there were more chances to see Shayna Baszler perform in the ring. The countdown for Shayna to appear on television on a weekly basis was coming real soon.
After praising her for her work, she appeared in the Mae Young Classic in WWE. She then started appearing on NXT to set forth yet another foundation to her already illustrious legacy. She became the NXT Women’s Champion, not once, but twice.
Shayna is no stranger to winning championship gold since she won titles on the independent circuit as well. Her winning the titles carried significance because she was introducing fans to a style of wrestling they may not be accustomed to.
Some fans fell in love with her style automatically, other fans it took a while, the rest of the fans are just stubborn and just want to see some flips. She has stayed true to her style of wrestling and it makes for an exciting future.
Shayna is like a fine wine and only improves with age. She has shown with a lot of hard work and a drive to succeed that the sky is truly the limit.
This 40th birthday is yet another chapter in the book of Baszler. For this birthday, it’s a toast to more championships, more wins, and more domination in the ring to come.
