Jack Owen Spillman. Born August 30, 1969 in Spokane, Washington.

His mother had four husbands and four children. Sadly, none of them knew who their actual father was.

Jack was not a high achiever; he dropped out of school in 9th grade.

Prior to the murders, Jack had run-ins with the police. Burglary, theft, assault, rape. His crime list was extensive.

It was in the mid 90’s when he took his crimes to another level, murdering a woman and her daughter in their own home. He would stalk his victims and learn their patterns and routines. Then, he would rape and viciously mutilate them in ways no one should imagine.

The Scene:

April 1995

A brutal scene discovered by a relative. A mother and her daughter. Murdered.

There was no sign of forced entry, so it’s assumed the back sliding door was used to enter the home late at night.

The mother was stabbed 31 times, and her daughter was beaten with a blunt object. Their bodies were also mutilated and torn apart. Without going into too many details, their skin was removed, objects were forced into places they shouldn’t go, etc. It’s even reported that their blood was drank by the monster that took their lives.

The details are graphic and horrendous. The only blessing is the most brutal of the acts were committed after the women had taken their last breaths. But what he did to them makes it clear why he was known as the Werewolf Butcher. He was a monster.

The night of the gruesome attack, two immediate things made Jack Spillman a suspect. First, a vehicle matching his truck was seen in the area. Second, Jack had to drive through a routine traffic stop. A 12" knife, covered in blood, was found in his possession. It was later determined that the blood belonged to the family he had just killed.

Once in police custody, and with the fear of the death penalty, Jack admitted to another murder from 1994. The victim was only 9 years old and was reported missing the previous year. After killing her, he buried her mere miles from her home. In true disgusting fashion, Jack would return to her grave, exhume her body, and perform awful acts.

After pleading guilty to the three accounts of murder, Jack was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole on April 30, 1996.

The Victims:

  • Rita Huffman, age 48
  • Mandy Huffman, age 15
  • Penny Davis, age 9
