if you want to know whether a child is learning, or a student is learning, that’s actually quite easy. You talk to them, you be with them, you listen to them.

I find this statement about how you know a child is learning to be profound and eyebrow raising. I believe the work we are doing at Andela could influence the way that billions learn in the next century, and coming from a tech entrepreneurship realm of course the question is often “how do we scale?”

I am proud to say that we are in the process of scrapping our early stop-gap assessment methods, which were semi-standardized socratic-style evaluation that smelled like the future but stank like the past at the same time. But what do we replace them with?

We have a lot of ideas, but I’d like to hear your take. How do you take an essential truth that learning and development can be easily felt through human-to-human interaction and conversation, and build on that truth to create learning assessment systems that work for people and the work?

I’d love to have the opportunity to connect and talk out some of the biggest problems facing both of us these days. How does that sound?
