Rest In Peace, David Shepherd, wherever you are.

Cricket fans will understand why I said that. You cannot talk about the number 111 without mentioning David Shepherd’s name. I can almost imagine him doing that little jig until I finish writing this day’s post…

111 happens to be one of my favourite numbers.

It’s so simple and beautiful in its symmetry. It is traditionally wrongly attributed to Admiral Nelson, who allegedly had only one eye, one arm and one leg towards the end of his life. It has proven to be wrong – he never lost a leg, apparently. But you know, once a legend sticks, it sticks.

(Match update: India just lost the 1st T20 by 1 run to the West Indies. 1 goddamn run.)

If you notice, the number 1 appears three times in the above statement…

Anyway, back to important matters – on Day Thirty-Seven, I had spoken about patterns related to 37, and 111 played a big part in it.

(One more match update: Manchester United just beat Hull City by 1 goal! 1 amazing goal! 0–1 it is!)

Again, it appears thrice…

Anyway, I better get to bed before this 111 madness takes over. And David Shepherd must be tired…
