#365DaysOfWriting – Day 129
Is there a fundamental flaw in the way we treat human employees as human ‘resources’?
I get business objectives. I get productivity. I get the thing about winning businesses. I get profits.
In the immortal words of Lucius Fox (and the immortal voice of Morgan Freeman), “At what cost?”
Indeed, at what cost do we continue seeking profitability? It may sound simplistic, but isn’t the profitability due to the very human ‘resources’ that have been hired? If they’re not happy enough, doesn’t profitability go for a toss?
I believe most companies operate on the philosophy of Ozymandias (from Watchmen): Kill millions to save billions.
As long as the company is running fine, why bother about a few employees? The top management gets away, and the ones at the lower levels suffer.
