There’s been an uproar over Pierce Brosnan today

Uproarious laughter, more like it.

This is NOT Photoshop. I assure you.

There is also a hilarious TVC that came with this. You can watch it here.

My question is though, why are we laughing?

This is the country that made Obama say a few lines of DDLJ dialogue.

We made Kevin Spacey dance in a lungi.

Allegedly, even Ross Taylor said bhenc**d after getting Kohli out. Go figure.

After all this, we’re laughing at Pierce Brosnan for doing an ad for pan masala?

Everyone knows that India is the place to be. It’s a simple matter of economics. And PR. See, everyone knew Pierce Brosnan as James Bond. He’d fallen a little off the charts though, in terms of conversation. This Pan Bahar ad has given him an Alok Nath-esque comeback into people’s consciousness. He also earned a pretty fat pay cheque for the commercial, I’m sure. He’s an actor. He was given a commercial. He was paid. He did it. Simple. If only he’d timed the release of his film I.T. better (released last month), he could’ve easily cashed in on all this publicity.

Sometimes, it’s all about the money, honey.
