Test match cricket.

Welcome back. It’s been a while.

England v Pakistan at Lord’s. The match is interestingly poised – Pakistan have a 1st innings score of 339, and England, as of now, are 250/7 – 89 runs behind.

Pakistan also have two players on the Honours Board – Misbah, for a Misbah-like 114, and Lionel Messi doppelgänger Yasir Shah, who has 5/62.

So Pakistan are clearly on top, right?

That’s the funny thing about test cricket. Chris Woakes and Stuart Broad are at the crease. Both are decent enough batsmen to turn this situation around. But yeah, as of now, Pakistan are bossing this game.

After the glut of T20s that started last year all the way to the Asia Cup, World T20 and IPL this year, the next few months are packed with test cricket. I look forward to India’s home stretch – this could be a glorious period of domination in tests by India.

Except of course, the series against West Indies starting next week.

That’s in the West Indies. And that could be interesting. Thanks to the time zones, I don’t know whether I’ll be able to see any of it at all!

The Virat Kohli-Anil Kumble partnership could be interesting.

This truly could be the beginning of a new era in Indian cricket. Both are aggressive, but in different ways. Kumble is the right foil for Virat whenever he might lose his temper. And Kohli is at the right stage in his career for Kumble to mould him into a great leader.

Time to buckle up for some good all-white flannel fun! If you like what you read, tap the little green heart at the bottom!
