You’ve heard it before, and you are about to hear it again.

Journaling can and will change your life.

I am, let's say an ADVOCATE for writing down your feelings, thoughts, wishes, and commands. Everything.

If you're reading this thinking, “Nah, that won't do me”, you're the exact person who needs to start.

All you need is:

  • Boujee journal to make you feel *boujee*.
  • A fancy pen that feels nice on paper.
  • An open mind, literally.

Okay, so you don't need fancy equipment, but if you're ready to go all out, it’s worth buying a cool notebook and a good-quality pen.

Think of it like people who buy expensive gym gear before they get a gym membership.

You can find some really great journals on Amazon. (Not an affiliate link)

What is Journaling?

Journaling is the act of using a pen to paper to waffle the words falling from your mind.

You can journal in lots of different ways, there is no set rule.

  • Write down your thoughts and feelings to help you make sense of them. Sometimes just getting them out allows you to see your thoughts from a different perspective.
  • Morning pages allow you to empty your mind to start your day feeling fresh. Don’t think too hard about this, it probably won't make sense…
  • Write down affirmations at the start and the end of the day, and get those good vibes brewing.
  • Manifest for your future self. Create a story about yourself for a year's time. Use this to manifest where and who you want to be.
  • Give yourself a weekly catch-up. Talk about your feelings as if you're speaking to a therapist. Think about why you felt that way, and how you overcame it.

Here's a more in-depth post about journaling written by someone with a PhD…

The Benefits of Journaling

Journaling will positively impact your life in a ton of ways you probably didn't even think of.

  • Improve your memory — When you write down a journal of your day it kind of makes you relive it.
Meaning you're more likely to remember these events. If not, at least you've written them down to relive later on.
  • Reduce stress levels — Reflecting on your day allows you to process your thoughts, feelings and events that occurred.
So when a tricky day arrives again you will have learnt how to deal with these emotions, and get through it.
  • Improve physical health? — Apparently, journaling can strengthen some immune cells called T-Lymphocytes…
    Every little helps!
  • Increase self-awareness — It’s easy to just float through life without giving your mind any time to itself.
Improving your self-awareness will enable you to be more AWARE of your mind and body in the present moment. Leading you to understand the way you feel, and how to act upon it.
  • Develop greater optimism — Gratitude journaling will improve your outlook on life.
Expressing gratitude means you focus on the things you're grateful for, all the good shit that happens. Meaning you spend less time focusing on all the actual shit.
  • A creative outlet — Expressing creativity is a NEED.
All adults need to express creativity to heal their inner child and generally feel good. if you think you don't, here's your sign that you do.
  • Be a better problem solver —Over time you will be able to solve your problems naturally due to the skills you have learnt when figuring out your thoughts and feelings through journaling.

So, are you going to start?
