6. Laundry

With fibromyalgia, daily tasks are more difficult. For me, laundry can be particularly challenging. I find that the constant bending and twisting is murder on my back. Fifteen minutes of laundry leads to hours of increased back pain.

I have a front loading washer and dryer, and both are on pedestals. Even so, I do a lot of bending. I’m not particularly tall, so I can’t blame my height. That’s just how this washer and dryer were made.

It doesn’t help that my utility room is rather narrow, so I end up needing to twist and reach more than I would if the space were larger. Nevertheless, I am fortunate to have my own laundry, so that I can rest between loads in the comfort of my own home.
