UX idea for Uber (or Lyft, or…)

Another idea could be to take inspiration from Pokemon Go and use augmented reality. As the car approaches, the driver’s phone switches to “beacon” mode and adds some sort of symbol on or near the car when viewed through the camera of the waiting passenger’s smartphone. The passenger sweeps any surrounding cars with the smartphone camera after getting the notification that the car has arrived and as the AR symbol is only visible to the passenger who called the car, it’s much more discreet.
