FRIENDSHIP IS EVERYONE’S PROSPERITY

Friendships are not optional, but necessary to a good life. For good things abound in good relationships: self-respect, generosity, validation, honor, fun, laughter, faithfulness, support and comfort.

When we feel safe in someone’s presence, we receive confirmation about who we are and become more capable of expanding into our uniqueness. When we feel affection, respect and delight in the company of a particular person, we will seek every opportunity to promote happiness and prosperity in that friend’s life.

If we’re in need of friendship — that family of our own choosing — then we must become the friend to others that we’re hoping will appear for ourselves. For good friends attract good friendships. And as we faithfully give ourselves to be a good friend to others, the gift of a lifetime will soon appear: that friend who understands and loves us, despite all our shortcomings.
